We are thrilled to announce that we have attained the position of number one in the world for Library and Information Management in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025! "We are very proud to be ranked number one in the world for Library and Information Management, for the fifth consecutive year. This is a great honour for all at the Information School, and is a testament to the outstanding teaching and world-leading research conducted in the School.  These rankings reflect our outstanding reputation established over six decades, our excellent reputation among employers, the high quality of our research publications, the large number of citations our papers attain, and of course the achievements of our students and alumni. We are Number One in the World for Library and Information Management We are thrilled to announce that we are Number One in the World for Library and Information Management in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2021 .  The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2021 cover a total of 51 disciplines, grouped into five broad subject areas. The QS World University Rankings by Subject are compiled annually to help prospective students identify the leading universities in a particular subject. Celebrating the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020 We are thrilled to announce that we have retained our position as 2nd in the World, and 1st in Europe, for Library and Information Management in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020.  Speaking about the achievement, Head of School Professor Val Gillet, said: “This ranking reaffirms that our School is home to excellent teaching informed by our world-leading research. QS World University Rankings reaffirm Information School as world-leading

We have reaffirmed our position as a world-leading School for research and teaching in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2019. We are ranked second in the World, and first in Europe, for Library and Information Management, reflecting our outstanding research and teaching, and following our success in the 2018 World University Rankings. The Information School has been at the forefront of developments in the information field for more than 50 years and has an international reputation for its high quality teaching and research. It achieved the highest possible grade in every one of the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) evaluations of research quality in UK universities since these began in 1989, and in 2014 it was the top-rated department for its research environment with a score of 100%.
